Little Wars
Plastic soldiers ranked in rows
Banners waving in the
plastic breezes
March across the coffee table
Doing as their commander
pleases.
Sturdy young men in plastic helmets
Numbered, gaudy, craftily
played
Moved about a striped field
Executing plans that someone
made
Plastic men in gray wool suits
Alike with ties and shiny
shoes
Arrayed in cubicles row on row
Obedient to the don'ts and
does.
Gray men with plastic teeth
Wear any ugly clothes they
want
From the little wars retired
None to say, "You may.
You can't."
