April 9 - And the Music Swells...
April 9 - And the Music Swells...
I've said it before and I'll say it again,
Life should be a summer musical.
We should break out in song at the drop of a hat.
And dance on top of each worker's cubicle
Flashmobs should form in the streets of our towns
To celebrate just being alive.
We should all keep a top hat under our desk
Each day from nine until five.
Just in case someone needs to sing out about
His love for the girl at the market
Who checks out his groceries or the cop all in blue
Who tells her where she can park it.
We don't have to sing about war or world peace.
We don't need an earth-shattering reason,
To lift up in music the simplest things;
Chocolate, fishing or the new baseball season.
We'd have to stash fiddles, clarinets and tubas,
Where the band can always get at 'em.
While the soprano is still warming up with a song,
About Liz and her new lover Adam.
Imagine the crowds swirling out in the street,
Though it might break several laws.
Who cares? We'd just sing at the top of our lungs,
For no reason than simply because.
